It looks like a steam locomotive, it smells like one, it sounds like one... it MUST be a STEAM LOCOMOTIVE! The Kramer Power Equipment engine No 726 was manufactured by Besecker Locomotive Works in Arcanum Ohio. It consists of an Advance Rumley boiler, a winching engine (a two cylinger steam engine that originally had a cable drum between the two cylinders and was literally a winch) and a 1960's Chevrolet truck chassis. This makes the annual excursion to the Darke County Steam Threshers every year from Eaton, Ohio. The trip takes about two and a half hours while traveling at 25-30mph.
A common and noteworthy display at our show is the Arcanum Fire Department steam pump. It is an Ahrens model 425 and was restored in the early 2000's.
A daily event worth mentioning is the Parade. Exhibitors line up and drive through the grounds to show off their hard work. The Announcer lists off the exhibitors name and special information about the equipment. |
