Who is the Darke County Steam Thresher's Association?

The Darke County Steam Threshers association Inc. is a club that is dedicated to the preservation of antique agricultural equipment. Each year at our annual reunion we strive to give guests a glimpse of what rural life was like in the days of the past. At our annual reunion you can see displays of antique full size steam engines, scale steam engines, tractors, and stationary engines. In addition you can see some of these machines in use. We feature exhibitions demonstrating the various stages wheat goes through to be prepared for use. We start with harvesting which includes cutting and bundling. Next we move on to threshing and separating. All these processes are done using antique machinery. We also have plowing demonstrations that exhibiting members can participate in as guests watch. We have a working sawmill that guests are also welcome to watch.

Food vendors and flea markets are available on the show grounds. These attractions are located in the beautiful York Woods. Guests can take a break from the demonstrations and grab a bite to eat as they leisurely stroll through the shade of the woods and browse the many interesting items for sale in the flea markets.

The annual reunion also offers activities for the younger members of your family. In the past chidrens activities have included a needle in the haystack game, a kiddie tractor pull, a barrel train, and a tug 'o' war with a scale steam engine.

The reunion has also included a variety of activities for exhibitors to participate in. We have had tractor and steam engine games in which operators can demonstrate their skill. We have a hill climb and a teeter totter. We have also had tractor pulls. Each day at Noon the steam engine operators are invited to participate in the “Noon whistle”. In addition we offer a daily parade. In the evenings you are invited to watch the dazzling display of our sparks show. Guests are invited to observe all of the before mentioned activities.

Camping is available in York Woods for our guests who would like to stay close to the fun and entertainment. If you plan on camping we ask for a nominal donation to help defray the expenses for maintaining the camping area.

We strive to offer something that is interesting for every member of the family. We look forward to seeing you and your family this year!
